Senior Project Officer DRR and Emergencies

Vacancy: Senior Project Officer DRR and Emergencies
Based in Danang
We are looking for a Vietnamese national for the position Senior Project Officer DRR and Emergencies to work for our Central Area Office. The successful candidate will be based in Danang.
Main Responsibilities: The Senior Project Officer DRR and Emergencies (DRR&E) is a member of DRR&ER team and is responsible for provide technical support and oversee the implementation of the project of Building Resilience to Natural Hazards in Central Region Vietnam. In addition, the SPO is expected to assist the implementation of emergency relief and recovery interventions in Central Highland and Mekong Delta. In general, the SPO should oversee DRR&ER projects in Central region with a view to ensure provision of services for the most marginalized children and their families in before, during and after disasters.
The SPO will assist to ensure that Save the Children Vietnam activities are consistent with SCI and Members’ programming principles and approaches, draw on good practices and lessons learned, enable children to attain their rights and are compliant with donor regulations.
Key Competencies:
Essential
- At least 3 years DRR&ER sector management experience in an NGO environment, including experience directing and implementing programs for children in both emergency and development contexts
- Bachelor’s degree in DRR&E or field related/relevant to international DRR&E work
- Proven technical knowledge and capacity in management and implementation of DRR&E activities, projects, programs
- Good understanding of challenges facing vulnerable children and communities in Vietnam
- Commitment to humanitarian principles/accountability frameworks, especially for work with vulnerable populations
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, to motivate and inspire team work
- Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think strategically
- Excellent (English language) narrative writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Experience of working in an emergency setting and/or commitment to build that capacity
- Flexibility and a sense of humour – ability to work, live and thrive in challenging circumstances
- Able and willing to learn from others and share experiences, professionally and personally (as per group living)
- Commitment to and understanding of SCI aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
