HEALTHBRIDGE CANADA IN VIETNAM
Project Manager
HealthBridge is an international, non-profit, non-governmental organization that works to improve health and health equity among vulnerable populations through research, policy and action. HealthBridge has been operating in Vietnam since 1993 in the areas Health, Nutrition and Food Security; Livable Cities, Gender Equality and Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health; Tobacco Control; Alcohol Control; and Non-Communication Diseases Prevention.
HealthBridge in Vietnam is currently looking for a qualified Vietnamese candidate to fill the position of Project Manager (PM) for the project funded by The Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall responsibility: To oversee day-to-day project management in planning, coordinating, and monitoring the implementation of GHAI funded project, working closely with other relevant teams from HealthBridge Vietnam (HBV). The PM will report directly to the Country Director in Vietnam office. The PM will contribute to the development and growth of the organization, its strategic plan, new projects, activities and partnerships.
Specific responsibilities:
I. Project management responsibilities
To oversee day-to-day project management in planning, coordinating, and supervising the implementation of the GHAI funded and other assigned projects.
- Take overall responsibility for projects’ management and leading role in coordinating, planning and supervising all projects’ activities including planning and implementation, monitoring and evaluation to ensure that the projects produce the expected outputs and outcomes on timely basis.
- Provide leadership and technical support to facilitate project team including project staff and consultants to effectively implement the project.
- Act as primary liaison with the Country Director, partners and donors to prepare working agenda, to provide regular updates on the projects’ progress, to identify the problems/challenges as they arise during the projects’ implementation and to recommend solutions on regular basis.
- Actively develop and maintain the relationship and partnership with the various levels of Government Agencies, professional and relevant organizations to foster and ensure their support for and involvement in the project and facilitate project’s collaboration and cooperation.
- Originate and respond to project correspondence in a timely manner.
- Prepare all technical/narrative reports and review financial reports; present to the Country Director and to Ottawa Office for comments and approval before submitting to the donor.
- Identify required consultants and ensure that proper contractual arrangements are followed.
- Follow up the work of involving project staff and consultants/ technical advisors/consultants to ensure timely and appropriate inputs to project activities.
- Maintain ongoing communication and collaboration with other relevant Project Managers to provide regular updates and to join activities if needed.
- Maintain ongoing contact with the project partners, the donor and its representatives as required.
II. Fund raising: Look for the opportunity of funding, generate the project ideas, seek the information for and developing concept note(s) and proposal(s).
III. Other responsibilities:
- Other tasks assigned by the Country Director.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Master’s degree in public health, nutrition or other relevant sectors.
- At least 7 years of project design and implementation experience and at least 5 years of project management.
- Experience in working with Government agencies, training /workshop facilitation and providing supportive supervision.
- Good research skills, including research design, quantitative and/or qualitative analysis.
- Understanding of government health system of Vietnam.
- Experience in communication and advocacy.
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Vietnamese;
- Ability to work effectively in a team, and team leadership abilities.
- Skilled in Results-Based Management
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable:
- Experience in implementing Nutrition/Public Health/Advocacy Projects.
