Terms of Reference

Background of the assignment

Agriterra is seeking to hire an internship student to assist  project team in implementing and supporting various activities related to cooperative developments and office support in Mekong river delta region. The internship will provide practical experience for the student in cooperative management, agricultural and aquaculture development, and rural business strategies, focusing on capacity building and the execution of training programs for cooperatives.

Main objective

The objective of this internship is to provide support to project team in Can Tho  in activities related to enhancing the governance and operational capacity of local agricultural cooperatives. The intern will contribute to project coordination, training and advisory logistics, data collection, and follow-up tasks that ensure successful implementation of Agriterra’s goals in the region.

Scope of work

The internship student will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Assisting the  project team in coordinating training and development programs for cooperatives in Can Tho.
• Helping with data collection, monitoring, and reporting on training outcomes and participant feedback.
• Assisting with logistical arrangements such as meetings, workshops, and field visits.
• Participating in meetings with cooperative members, stakeholders, and providing translations (if required).
• Supporting documentation of the activities, including creating reports and presentations.
• Performing other duties within the mandate of Agriterra, when required

Expected outcomes

• Timely and efficient support to project team
• Clear documentation and reporting on cooperative progress and training outcomes.
• Enhanced communication and coordination between cooperative members, advisors, and stakeholders.

Duration and Location

• The internship will be based in Can Tho with field visits to cooperative sites as required.
• Duration: 3 months from starting date (expected to be in October 2024)with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.
• Start date: As soon as possible.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Agriculture, Economics, Business Management, Rural Development, or a related field.
• Experience and/or education on Aquaculture and/or Cooperative development is an advantage  

1. Strong organizational and communication skills.
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
3. Good command of English and Vietnamese (both written and spoken).
4. Ability to work independently and within a team.
