Description of the project the Intern will complete:

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recently launched a technical cooperation project aimed at strengthening the contribution of community sport and physical activity to building healthy and active communities. The “Community Sport and Health Cooperation Initiative,” under the technical cooperation project umbrella, aims to strengthen collaboration between the sport and health sector through implementing co-created “sport for health” community programs jointly delivered by health and sport stakeholders to increase participation in organized community sport to improve health and wellbeing.

PATH serves as the Delivery Lead for the Community Sport and Health Cooperation Initiative, and together with the IOC and WHO, will partner to deliver concrete activities in five countries with the aim of improving the contribution of community sports to promoting healthy lives and achieving the WHO global target of a 15 percent relative reduction in the global prevalence of physical inactivity. Vietnam was the first country to initiate the Initiative in November 2023.

Description of overall learning objectives and goals for the internship/benefit to the Intern:

To gain practical experience in the international NGO environment in terms of project implementation & management, including regular duties, and responsibilities of program and/or position; This includes learning and practicing development of Information, Education and Communication/ Behavior Change Communication (IEC/ BCC) materials for sports and health promotion.

Brief description of required skills/experience the intern should possess:

  • Graduated in Marketing Communication (MarCom) or have strong Marcom skill sets.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Creativity, adaptability, flexibility, problem-solving, and professionalism.
  • Motivation and a strong desire to work with young people in school and community settings.
  • Familiar with AI applications.
  • High level of accuracy, responsibility, teamwork and collaboration, and work ethics
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.
  • Strong MS Office, especially Word and PowerPoint or other software for editing photos and making presentations.

Skills to be developed and/or expanded during the internship:

  • Experience in enhancement/development content and design of applications for health education specifically targeting NCDs, training curriculums for both school and community environments, as well as IEC/ BCC material.
  • Project implementation and management
  • Writing academic skill
  • Skills of communication and coordination
  • Team working skills.
  • Other related skills in logistics arrangement, financial process, event organization and administration

Proposed activities:

Act as a Communication and Outreach Intern to support the project with the following tasks:

  • Support to develop communication and training tools:
  • Collaborate with the project's communication team to gather reference documents from credible sources.
  • Contribute to the development of content (including graphics) for videos, posters, social media posts, training PowerPoint presentations, e-learning modules, websites, and communication handbooks.
  • Support planning and implementing communication and sport activities:
  • Assist in planning communication campaigns, competitions, and sports event promotions.
  • Support the development of guidelines for organizing communication and sports activities.
  • Support monitoring activities, plans, and results of beneficiary partners (schools).
  • Assist in building the project's sponsorship proposal.
  • Support with general day-to-day administrative tasks.
