[ingodirectors] Call for Elections - NGO RC Steering Committee Member April 2011

Dear colleagues:

Following my repeated call for nominations, we have received three 
proposed candidates for a Steering Committee member at the VUFO-NGO 
Resource Centre:

1. Ms Hannah Bryce, Country Programme Manager at Mines Advisory Group 
Vietnam
2. Ms Hang Thi Bich Nguyen, Country Representative at Marie Stopes 
International Vietnam
3. Mr Stephen Mills, Country Director at Family Health International in 
Vietnam

Please cast your electronic vote by selecting one candidate and replying 
to <director at ngocentre.org.vn> before Friday 20 May 2011. We would like 
to announce a new Steering Committee member at the INGO Forum, which 
will be scheduled for that day. Please note that each organization can 
cast only one (1) vote. In order to make your decision easier, I have 
enclosed short biographies for three candidates below:

Hannah Bryce moved to Vietnam in 2010 to take up the role of Country 
Programme Manager with the Mines Advisory Group (MAG). Before moving to 
Vietnam Hannah had spent the previous 4 years working in Sudan, first 
with GOAL, an NGO focusing on primary health care, water and sanitation 
and livelihoods project, and then with Mines Advisory Group (MAG) as a 
Programme Officer and Project Manager. Before moving to Sudan Hannah was 
based in London working with a private company which were outsourced by 
DFID as their Health Resource Centre. Hannah has a LLB in law and a 
Graduate Diploma in International Development, both from the LSE.

Hang Thi Bich Nguyen has been Country Representative for Marie Stopes 
International in Vietnam since 1998. Marie Stopes is a UK-based 
international NGO and a social enterprise specializing in Sexual and 
Reproductive health. Prior to working for Marie Stopes International, 
Hang was Chief Representative of Prieure Ltd, an Australian-based 
Investment consultant company and has also worked for the Vietnam 
Ministries of Health and Construction. Hang has significant experience 
in delivering sexual and reproductive health projects including HIV/AIDS 
to under-served communities across Vietnam including poor women and men 
in remote rural and mountainous areas, adolescents and youths, migrant 
workers, ethnic minorities, commercial sex workers and intravenous drug 
users. She is responsible for a range of programs working with public 
and private sector healthcare providers funded by international donors, 
corporations and the Vietnamese government. She holds Bachelors degrees 
in English and Law, and a Masters in Business Administration from the 
University of Hawaii.

Stephen Mills has been Country Director for Family Health International 
(FHI) in Vietnam since 2004. FHI's portfolio under his management 
includes capacity building support to the Ministry of Health (MOH), 
Ministry of Labour Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), provincial 
health services and local NGOs in HIV prevention, care, and treatment; 
drug treatment, including methadone; social work capacity building and 
integration into health services; research in innovative dengue control; 
clinical trials management and support to pharmaceuticals and the MOH; 
and tobacco control. He served as founding Co-Chair of the HIV 
sub-committee of the Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) 
and as a full member of the CCM in Vietnam for 4 years. Steve currently 
serves as a member of the Global Fund Technical Review Panel. Prior to 
his work in Vietnam, Steve served as Associate Director of FHI's 
Asia-Pacific Regional Office in Bangkok, Thailand where he provided 
technical assistance in HIV and behavioural surveillance to countries 
throughout the Asia region. He holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the 
London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
