Dear DMWG and Climate Change WG Colleagues

You have always fascinated us with your joint activities on disaster and
climate resilience. On behalf of the co-organisers, I take this
opportunity to share and invite interetsed member to join us on 30
September at Hotel Melia. The subhect is Strengthening Disaster
Resilience of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The National Business Forum on “Strengthening Disaster Resilience
of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Viet Nam” is being
co-organized by the Assistance Center for SME-North Viet Nam
(TAC-Hanoi), Oxfam Viet Nam, The Asia Foundation and the iPrepare
Business facility of ADPC under the regional project “Strengthening the
Disaster Resilience of Small and Medium Enterprises in Asia” supported
by Asian Development Bank (ADB), a fund financed by the Government of
Canada, and the German Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation
(BMZ) through the Deutsche GesellschaftfürInternationaleZusammenarbeit
GmbH (GIZ) within the framework of the Global Initiative on Disaster
Risk Management (GIDRM). The key objectives are:

  * To emphasize the importance strengthening SME disaster resilience in
promoting economic development and building resilient communities in
    Viet Nam
  * To share experiences and practices on initiatives on SME disaster
    resilience
  * To map out stakeholders and their planned, future and potential
activities in implementing the roadmap process including
potential small-scale pilot projects to support the strengthening
SME disaster resilience in Viet Nam

Resilient Businesses (large corporations , SMEs and MSMEs) are crucial
part of safer communities and societies. The long term economic
efficiency of investment in disaster risk reduction has become very
evident in recent years.
The iPrepareBusiness facility at ADPC with technical and financial
support from GIZ, ADB and JICA focuses on to build disaster-resilient
businesses in the region, by partnership to strengthen resilience of
private sector ; providing technical assistance in strengthening
resilience on a demand-driven basis; supporting governments in
strengthening the enabling environment that promotes risk sensitive and
informed investments by private sector and facilitating knowledge
sharing at the regional and national level.

Kindly let us know if you can spend a day to learn and discuss with the
public and private organisation on this topic. Appreciate your email at
hoangyen208 at gmail.com <mailto:hoangyen208 at gmail.com>.
