Providing professional translation/editing service to the LHSS Vietnam Project
Background

The global Local Health System Sustainability (LHSS) project helps low and middle-income countries transition to sustainable, self-funded health finance systems that support high-performing overall health systems. The LHSS activity in Vietnam will work with the Government of Vietnam (GVN) to advance greater local ownership of HIV and TB prevention and control. Led by Abt Associates, the four-year activity will support Vietnam in increasing its domestic financing for HIV and TB services in the context of declining donor funding, using government resources more efficiently, and in assuming local ownership of HIV and TB prevention and control activities.
Objective:
To support the adequate and effective implementation of technical activities, LHSS Vietnam seeks to engage an individual to provide professional translation services. The individual will work closely with the F&A team and Technical/Program Officers in charge, under the direct supervision of the F&A Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the LHSS to provide a timely professional translation from English to Vietnamese and vice versa:
- Translate various types of written documents (reports, minutes, letters, training materials, briefs, etc.) from English to Vietnamese and vice versa.
- Check the final result of translated documents made by outsider translators/service meeting Abt/LHSS’s quality standards
- Edit translated documents.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
5+ years of work experience as a translator. Experience in translating documents in the field of health, health insurance, health financing, and HIV/AIDS would be an asset.
Advance skills in written English and Vietnamese.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Careful, precise, attentive to details.
Ready to provide service upon urgent requests.
Able to work to deadlines and under pressure.
Location: The individual can choose to work at the LHSS Project Office or from home
Timing: The assignment is planned for the period from January to September 2021.
Deliverables: Approximately 1,200 pages to be translated. Deliverables will be managed and approved by the F&A Director case by case.
Quotes: All interested individual should submit their quotes to Ms. Phuong Doan at [email protected] by 5:00 PM on 8th January 2021. The individuals must include in their quotes the rates for translation/editing per page.
Quotes received in response to this RFQ will be evaluated based on the price, availability, and quality of the required service. These parts are considered equal, the individual with the lowest cost technically available will be awarded. As a result, vendors are encouraged to submit their
most competitive offer.
Abt Associates reserves the right to reach a final decision based on an overall assessment of quotes. The submission of a quote does not constitute an award of any funds. The resulting award will be subject to Abt’s standard terms and conditions and applicable to all Prime Contract terms and conditions, which are available upon request.
