Research Manager
The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The centre generates science-based knowledge about the complex role that trees play in agricultural landscapes and uses its research to ensure that policies and practices benefit the poor and the environment. As a result of expanding work in the field of climate change and payment for environmental services (PES), ICRAF Vietnam is seeking a mature aged, open-minded, dynamic and energetic Research Manager. This position will assist ICRAF Vietnam country coordinator with the following:
1. Technical coordination of projects related to Reducing Emission through Avoiding Deforestation and Degradation (REDD), and Rewards, Use and Co-invest for Environmental Services (RUPES). The tasks will include research design, research team building, participating in research as the principle investigator, and report writing.
2. Participating in producing scientific publications and printing materials
3. Participating in other Global Research Programs (GRPs) assigned by ICRAF global to Vietnam (more information on six ICRAF GRPs is presented on the ICRAF website)
4. Exploring new funding opportunities for Vietnam and SEA region. The work would involve concept notes and proposal development and will be conducted together with ICRAF SEA team.
Requirements/Qualification:
- Any nationality having English as working language , holding at least an international Masters Degree in environmental sciences, environmental management, natural resource management, rural development, agriculture/forestry, social sciences or related fields.
- For an international MS holder, it is required more than 10 years of experience in research, networking, coordinating and communication of international projects in the related fields.
- For an international PhD holder, it is required an excellent record of scientific publications and proven research coordination ability.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Exceptional skills in scientific writing and presentation;
- Working experience in the developing countries;
- The ability to manage stressful working situations and work well as part of a team;
- Knowledge of computer programs: Windows, Office package, Email and Internet.
- Skill in using GIS and Remote Sensing for NRM research is an additional merit.
The successful applicant will be offered a three year contract (with three months probation), and a competitive salary package with social and health insurance fully covered (Total gross income per year is around 31,000 USD.
